17.3.11 Barossa Valley and some extra Dresses

17.3.11 Barossa Valley South Australia…..and a few extra Dresses
We did a bit of exploring of the 5 towns that make up the Barossa valley, Lyndoch, Tanunda, Nuriootpa Angaston and Gawler

We are getting quite accustomed to the metal roofs and lace ironwork of the older and traditional homes,

A new aspect we need to understand here is the German influence, lunch in Lyndoch at the bakery was accompanied by German  music, the menu was Germanic and written in German.

Many of the early settlers were non-conformists from Europe. Last time we had this experience we were in Punta Arenas Chile.

The day took us through many vineyards and National parks and lakes in the area.
As is often the case growers plant roses in front of the vines, not to make the place prettier although it does, but so that the bugs attack the roses before the vines.

Great fun no wine tasting though as we were driving but good to see the homes of familiar names. Jacobs Creek was the biggest visited. Wolf Blass and Penfolds are also here.

Yaldara Vinyard, they say 'Cellar Door open' meaning you can go have a look round, a taste get a view on whats produced and buy if you wish.

Examples of all the different wines,
where grown, types of wine produced
and flavour notes

The village names are just great……Tea Tree Gully, Chain of Ponds, Paris Creek, Hope Valley, One Tree Hill, Verdun, Piccadilly makes map reading more interesting.

Miniature dresses extras 75 A, B &C
I started thinking about a lady I met on the cruise - Jan -  She knits very tiny dolls dresses; I took some shots when we were in Bora Bora meaning to take others with a tape measure to demonstrate just how tiny. There are 87 stiches to make the ‘christening’ gown dress.  So I’m posting these as a few extra dresses 75 A, B,&C. I was so impressed by her skills and wanted a shot of her too.   She has a web site.  www.jansminis.co.uk

Oh and whilst I was looking for Jans pictures I found this one, the chocolate tea buffet aboard the Aurora, what a fabulous spread makes me hungry just remembering the rich smell and of course the taste..................................

Tonight we might go back to the same restaurant as last night it must be the narrowest I have ever been in but the food was good and walls were covered in paintings.
