1.3.11 Sydney arrival, Hairdressers, Art and Dress 68

1.3.11 Sydney Arrival Hairdressers and Art Dress 68

Well we have arrived and what an arrival, about 5.30am we started to see the Sydney harbour bridge and the outline of the Sydney opera hour, and of course all their lights

We were up on deck watching as we berthed right in the heart of Sydney and circular quay.

We had a wonderful breakfast looking out from the Pennant grill toward the bridge and opera house.  As the ship is so high and in the water the perspective of these iconic images is totally different.

Today was always going to be a bit of ‘admin’ dropping of cases at the Four Seasons hotel, getting my hair done, sorting out the packing for Tasmania etc.  And we had the invitation to see Dr Garry Darby and more of his Aboriginal art.

51 days or more since I had a trip to the hairdresser and the plan was always to sort my hair out in Sydney.  We were recommended to Philippe Xavier in Bridge Street. We received a very warm welcome on arrival, and somewhat nervously committed myself to Mel and the ladies of the salon.

It was a great experience, the ladies and Philippe all fussed round David and gave him a full list of restaurant, must see places, times to visit. Also, for both of our plenty of excellent coffee. It seems in Australia our favourite coffee Americano is called a flat black here so this was good information for the rest of our trip. The lady with the hat worked in W1 London in the 1980s and Philippe is French the salon is gorgeous  and stylish and I highly recommend it www.philipexavier.co.au

In the afternoon we went to see Garry Darby and his charming wife, in Sanssouci, very interesting and another painting will be coming home with us.

The evening and last on Aurora was room service on our balcony surrounded by far too much packing for the size of the cases. overlooking the Sydney opera house.
A lovely end to the part of the trip

Tomorrow is Tasmania
Its been 26 to 30 all day and humid later the breeze came up the Austrailians say summer is now over and as of the 1st March it’s Autumn.
