The packing and planning over we are off to the Aurora in Southampton for the first part of the journey 51 nights to Sydney. We have 4 cases 1 holdall and 2 carry on cabin luggage and my handbag. Thank goodness we had a Ford galaxy to bring us here
The first dress is the Entertainment officer Hayley Jane who is still awaiting her hat; she took us through the Muster drill in the Playhouse.
We then spent 1 ½ hours in the cold waiting for departure the Military band played, fireworks banged and confetti showered. Ben and Laura were in their car the last one on the quayside flashing their headlights. We waved more in hope than anything it was lovely to think they were there. The text messages flew back on forth ‘was that you flashing’ can you see us waving’ ‘have you found your case’.
The Second dress is the ladies new Spa outfit the first day they have worn their new uniform apparently it’s a bit chilly so we discussed the advantages of vests and thermals whilst I had my manicure. Khristi the nail technician was very impressed that even on board I was keeping the varnish in the Fridge.
Temperature 7 degrees and 3.5 to 4metre swell out at sea.
Nails finished we explored the ship and as instructed by the captain held firmly to the handrails at all times.
