Fourth and Fifth dresses

Fourth and Fifth Dresses
Did you know that the P&O shipping company flag blue/white and Red/Yellow is such because the original founders of the shipping line - 174 years ago - received money from the Royal families of Portugal and Spain during the peninsular wars? Apparently the company helped run supplies and troops during the early 1800’s. Funny the stuff you pick up on a P&O ship.
The fourth and fifth dresses are me in a black number with feather stole. Gorgeous black sequin and beaded heavy lace Jaeger dress. The other dress is worn by Pamela and she is with her husband, she was very shy to have her photo taken but she and her husband Mahon looked fabulous and very well co-ordinated. Pamela designs all her evening wear and has it hand crafted in India, both she and mina (husbands pet name) are Yoga masters and love to meditate every morning for at least 1 hour.
We enjoyed a Black tie function this evening (11.1.11) and met the captain, first officer and the managing director of P&O cruises Carol Marlow, the interesting information about yoga, P&O and Cocktails flowed all evening.
We woke this morning to beautiful sunshine and are travelling so fast we will be in Madeira by 10.00pm this evening. Madeira is a Portuguese colony and famous for many things including cake and wine. Seriously though key facts, twice the size of Isle of Wight, they take a 2 hour lunch very civilised, the moors were here and influenced design notably the ‘Se’ cathedral, Sir Winston Churchill loved to come and paint the fishing harbour whist he wasn’t building walls at Chartwell. They have a mountain 1,700 feet higher than Ben Nevis called Pico Ruivo which you can climb is so inclined (Pun).
They speak Portuguese and key words are obrigado and quanto custa? Thank you how much. However we are trying to not to buy anything as this is only the first of many fascinating places we will visits over the next 70 days. So we will be holding back on the Embroidery (look out for the lead label of authenticity), wickerwork, Flowers, wine, tapestry, Leather and all the other hand crafted must haves.
The weather is brighter again today with a wide horizon, Sunset at 6.05pm and a bracing16C/ 60F
