10.2.11 all at sea, the Captains party Dress 39 and 40
11.2.11 there’s no hiding place from Salobrena dress 41 and 42
We are crossing the Pacific and heading for Tahiti, the days seem to flow into each other and we spend a lot of time relaxing, the good intentions to go to the gym every day seem a dim and distant memory and the pool is below 25C so too cold for me. So lots of walks round the decks and leisurely naps bliss.

Tom Wonnacott from Bargain hunt is on board and his lectures are packed. Mum Jones and Heather remember Thornton Hey? he spoke about that sale. We are determined to sort out our garage this year and find a few priceless items.  This is necessary as we seem to be collecting all sorts of bits most are packed away but here are a few, the flowers of course will go, my favourite is the rock hopper postcard from Patagonian he’s the punk of the penguins and makes me smile every time I see the card. We’ve got stuff from everywhere and the small things are forming a kind of shrine on the desk. And we woke this morning to the scent of the Stargazer lily and freesias.

It has occurred to me that we have learned and are using a whole new language on this trip.  Every time you go on a holiday new words pop up. Line fish caught me out in South Africa (pun) I thought it was a type of fish but it’s whatever is caught on the fishing line. Light tea in India for weak tea.  So I thought I’d make a note of some of the new words from the trip so far;-

So the most exciting thing last night was the Captains Gala Ball and Party, we attend in our best dresses and the men in Black tie.  It was held in the Crows nest which as you might expect from the name has a panoramic view at the bow of the ship. The last rays of sunshine streamed in as we sipped our G&T’s. It is a very good way to meet new people and catch up with new friends before Dinner then dancing for those interested until the early hours.
So Dress 39 is me in my new little number from House of Frazer, I have been saving it until I had a reasonable tan then it got chilly in Chile so this was the first outing. Please also note the beautiful flowers which we received from the Bridge.

Dress 40 is Ana in a lovely dress, she is an amazing woman, swims at 6.30am every morning and then runs, and she loves the sun and her beer at lunchtime.  She has told me her age but I will keep that to myself suffice it to say she is a great role model, but I’m still not going in that pool until it warms up a bit.

Today, the sea is yet another shade of blue, horizon says its 23C today and I’ve got to muster to Mayfair before 12.00 noon, Daniel our Cabin Steward has raised a chit for new curtains which are sitting outside waiting to be hung.

Fashion Show 11.2.11 there’s no hiding from Salobrena
Mayfair held another show today and I was asked again to model – so can’t have done too bad a job last time.  Despite my love of lovely dresses that’s not the driving force to stand up in front of 200 plus people , it’s not the champagne we enjoy beforehand either, it’s all the new people we meet. People from all over the world and amazingly in this fashion show the sister-in-law and brother of a great couple we met in Spain, and also in Upton-upon-Severn.  So hi guys here is Sandra also a model and you know who you are when I say you look just like your brother! So dress 41 and 42 is Sandra and me and yes she did model too and we were in the middle of the pacific and Aurora was pitching like crazy.
Dress 41 and 42

We put the clocks back again last night as we sail across the ocean we are now 5 hours behind GMT and I believe we put them back again tonight.
It’s a busy day tomorrow Easter Island at 2.00pm and we are reading up on Tahiti and waiting for the next lecture on Polynesian Civilisation.
